The arrival

Doing something you’ve never done before is always a scary thing. Especially when it involves going to a country that you’ve never been to before and meeting the family in whose house you’re going to stay for a month. I’ll admit it, I was frightened. Looking back at it, there was no need to be scared at all. The flight went great, I found the house without getting lost and the family is lovely. They have two sons, Noah and Thomas, who love playing videogames and somehow remind me of my sisters. I enjoy spending time with them, and I am happy to have had the luck to get such a nice family.
Another thing that scared me a lot was the first day at school. Yet again, there was absolutely no reason for that. I quickly realized that I wasn’t the only one who had her first day and was scared, alone and looking for friends. Everybody at the school was super friendly and nice and the day went great.

The Bell School

I absolutely love spending time at the Bell School. The facilities are spotless and remarkably beautiful. There are many spacious and pretty areas where you can spend time in the breaks and chat with your friends. I met so many people with so many different nationalities at this school. There are Russians, Brazilians, Slovaks and many Italians, but I haven’t met a single swiss person yet. That’s great, because this way, you don’t only get to know the British culture, but in some way the culture of the people that you meet as well. The two main reasons why I love to go to school here are that you meet people from all over the world, and that learning English really is a lot of fun, because all  the teachers are super motivated and make it a great experience.

Cambridge

This week I’ve started to explore Cambridge. I am very lucky to have found friends that wanted to join me on my exploration. So far, this city very much reminds me of Rome, because every time you walk around a corner, you have a new, beautiful façade right in front of you. There are the stunning colleges, the river cam, the parks, the shops, the restaurants and so much more. The best way to get an overview of the city, is to go punting. Punting was a lot of fun. The guide told us some very interesting facts while we got to see some of the most beautiful sites of Cambridge.
